Chichen-Itza was a pre-Columbian town established by the Maya people between the 9th and 12th centuries that consists of various archaeological structures some of which includes: El Castillo (also known as the Temple of Kukulkan), a step pyramid with a series of square terraces and stairways up each of the four sides to the temple at the top. Each of the pyramid’s four sides has 91 steps, La Iglesia (The Church), a building with decorative stone mosaics and Chaak masks, Temple of the Warriors, a large, stepped pyramid bordered by hundreds of rows of carved columns representing warriors and El Caracol, a circular building with a spiral staircase on a square base.

Chichen-Itza's present-day location is in Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico and it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988.
