Christ the Redeemer is a statue of Jesus Christ standing on the Corcovado mountain in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The statue was designed by Paul Landowski, a French sculptor and built by Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa, and French engineer Albert Caquot. A Romanian sculptor Gheorghe Leonida created the face.

Construction started in 1922, and it was opened to the public on October 12, 1931.

Christ the Redeemer was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001.
